Villanueva: A Minor Leaguer?! And assorted goods.

Ugh, I can't believe Yost just mentioned Villanueva has options and may have to take one for the team. That is completely heinous. You got a guy who has a career 3.86 ERA in 168 innings in two seasons and you're going to demote him because you don't have the ratchets to toss underperforming players like Capuano, Bush and Vargas into the fire. For a team that talks about winning now, they sure are scaring me.

On a side note: I won't be able to post nearly as much as before because the newly instituted firewall at work denies me the opportunity to post or comment, though I can read anything. I may have to move the blog to another site if necessary. More information on the way.

As for the research regarding pitchers numbers before and after catchers, I've realized that I have no idea where to start, and therefore it may take some time. And in other news, the Brewers signed Russell Branyan to a minor league contract yesterday, which was great news. This gives us big league experience and depth in the minors, which is comforting. Branyan really isn't that good, but if he does make the trip, we'll get some entertaining long shots.

Oh, and Prince Fielder's a vegetarian all of a sudden... no joke.

The Villanueva news seemed like a shocker in itself especially after all that talk of Carlos being the third guy in the rotation....but then this nugget about Prince and vegetables...
Aaron, I got two theories...
One..Ned Yost intentionally masks reality in order to keep the media guessing. He is flat jawed and serious...the kind of guy who likes war games.

Two...Prince has lost a little carniverous feeling because the energy he used up last year to out-homer his father has dissappeared. I lift a beer tonite in toast with all Brewer fans hoping the Prince finds a new outlet for his angst.

Now, it's the morning after and I am in that cloudy place of a left over drunk. Aaron, maybe Prince's obsession against his father will last another 10 years..Man, I sure hope so.

It might not be a bad idea to start a secret letter writing campaign to Prince's mailbox. We could send him old baseball cards of his father with newspaper clips of praising commentary.

Haha. I'm not sure if that will motivate him or send him into a horrible gambling problem. Nevertheless, this team is developing some character. I can remember how many years we've had of bland veterans, who never seemed to have much fun in the dugout or on the field. I'm just waiting for guys like Mat Gamel and Laporta to get here. You can tell they're a bit out there and will fit the team chemistry quite well.

Steve, you're right. Yost masks everything, and it's annoying because you're never quite sure if he knows what he's doing. In the end, he usually doesn't, but there's always that inkling of hope because of his tight lipped ways.

Gotta love Matt LaPorta ready to burst on the Brewers scene with an outfield ringing and rhyming like Braun Cameron and Hart.

Oh, that doesn't rhyme....but damn! There's the Gwynn on the bench. Melvin's got a plan. He threw everybody for a loop with the LaPorta pick.

And after seeing Melvin in that Brewers website video during that big party at Miller Park a few months or weeks ago....man, he seems like he has having fun...cracking jokes with the camera man, the business man...

Yost seems the odd man out of this cheer....Ned is a cold equation. Melvin's gonna drink one two many Moson's one night and can him. Isn't Ed Seder our hitting instructor? Wasn't he with Fields-Weeks-Hardy in the minors? I vote him in to replace Yost in election year 2008.
